Welcome to Italy

We arrived at Milan's Malpensa airport at 7am (1am NYC time) after a little over 7 hours flying time. A trail of floor-mounted plaques led us to the Malpensa Express and we enjoyed a lovely view of the sunrise on our way to Central Station.
We walked rather blindly our of the station, bought a map, and walked our way to the Mercure Milano...without the address. Meant to be. Despite arriving four and a half hours early our room was ready and waiting. Again, how perfect.
After a much needed nap we ventured out into the city and down towards the Duomo.
The Duomo in all it's glory...
...plus the market full of goodies that surrounds it! Oh, the prosciutto!
Serious porky goodness.
The Duomo is huge, check out those doors.
Gorgeous stained glass inside the giant Duomo...
Grand pillars and arches...
Unfortunately this pic is fuzzy, but the detail is still insane.
After all that walking we enjoyed a nice piadina....mmmmm.
We made our way back to the hotel and regrouped for dinner, later fighting the rain for veal osso bucco and risotto Milanese (with saffron!) Quite possibly the best risotto I've ever had.
